And Even More Babies

When I’m not obsessively visiting Butches + Babies daily for more glorious pictures of my community posing so handsomely with the babies in their lives, I’m reveling in the beauty of this family as they navigate the joys and challenges of raising a daughter with Down’s Syndrome while living in Laos. And it’s not just because Nava might be about the cutest toddler I’ve ever seen posing in her fashionable orange baby glasses.

I marvel at the deftness with which this family seems to navigate their world and the multiple identities they inhabit. I take so much joy in the fact that they have chosen to share their story with all of us, and in such a visual and visible way. And quite honestly, I simply cannot get enough of Nava’s smile.

  1. Those cheeks are just begging for kisses, she’s adorable! It’s been a while since we connected. I’m glad you are enjoying your work in TX. The doula business is picking up for me, which I thought was perfect timing until I discovered I’m carrying baby #4! Wow! So where do you expect to set up practice after you graduate?

    • Congratulations to you Naomi on both counts – the booming business as well as the new little one on the way.

At this point in my training I have absolutely no idea where I want to practice more permanently. I have half a dozen ideas floating around in my head, but I’m going to keep exploring.

  2. WOW! What a wonderful treat!
I was sitting in the company car next to Nava, hurling down the highway past rice fields and bamboo shacks and catching up on the 1000 posts in my reader through the magic of a 3G dongles…and then I clicked on your post!

I am beyond tickled for the shout out. It so rewarding to know others enjoy Navagating! Now, off to get my Carnival post up. Woot!
